Shuili Snake Kiln

In Shuili, Nantou, an old kiln sits quietly at the foot of the mountains. Built in 1927, the Shuili Snake Kiln is the oldest surviving wood-fired kiln in Taiwan, holding deep roots in traditional local culture.

In its early days, it mainly produced everyday pottery to meet the needs of residents in Shuili and neighboring townships. As times changed, the Snake Kiln transformed into a cultural park that promotes ceramic art. Step inside and you will see the earthen walls stained with old smoke marks and catch a faint scent of wood-fired clay lingering in the air.
