Located near Checheng Railway Station, the Checheng Wood Museum was established to preserve the local industry’s history and culture, showcasing Checheng’s transformation from a hub of the timber industry to a popular tourist destination. The museum was originally the factory of Zhenchang Industrial, which once boosted local employment so significantly that Shuili earned the nickname “Little Taipei”. However, as forestry policies changed and logging was banned, the factory gradually fell into disuse, and the bustling town quieted down for many years. In 2008, the abandoned factory was revitalized and transformed into a dynamic space that blends history and creativity, allowing visitors to rediscover the timber industry that shaped the region.
