Known as a living Jiadong museum, this literary pathway was initiated in 2006 by Dr. Tseng Kuei-hai and also marks the starting point of the Liugen Village community revitalization project. The pathway not only links treasured historic sites such as the Xiao Family Residence, the more than 200-year-old West Gate, and the Zhang Family Commercial Building, but also skillfully weaves together art, poetry, Hakka culture, and local history.
Strolling along Donggen Road, paved with stone slabs, visitors will find renowned poems written in Hakka displayed across the walls, their lines revealing the poets’ deep affection and concern for their hometown. On both sides of the pathway, vivid peony murals dot the landscape among weathered old houses and former warehouses, together creating a rural atmosphere that feels vibrant yet serene.
