To welcome the heat and excitement of summer, the Hakka Cultural Development Center of the Hakka Affairs Council is launching a rich series of immersive, sensory-rich summer performances and activities at the Liudui Hakka Cultural Park from July through August 29. The park features popular family-favorite installations, including the "Dancing Water Fountain" and the "Sandpit Water Play Area," offering parents and children the perfect spot to splash around and beat the heat! Families are warmly invited to join the fun and create unforgettable summer memories together.
Hsieh Sheng-Hsin, Director of the Hakka Cultural Development Center, stated that this summer, Liudui Hakka Cultural Park has specially curated an engaging and diverse array of events, making it the premier choice for family outings. Among the highlights, the "2026 Liudui Art & Fun" HAKKA Summer Family Party series will roll out on July 18, July 26, August 2, and August 29. The park’s beloved mascot family, the "Da Shi Xiong (Big Lion Brother) Mascot Family," will lead outdoor sing-alongs, dance-alongs, and interactive performances. On July 18, a spectacular 250-cm-tall "Giant Clown Bubble Show" will bring magical surprises to the stage. On August 29, "Sister Tomato" from the YOYO Family will make a special appearance alongside the Da Shi Xiong mascots, singing, dancing, and teaching Hakka phrases to leave children with joyful summer memories.
Blending education with entertainment, the event will feature the "Fun Summer Hakka Challenge," complete with Hakka language puzzle games and budget-friendly interactive booth activities. Through these engaging stations, children can practice speaking Hakka while enjoying music and play. Successful participants will have the opportunity to win limited-edition "Da Shi Xiong Family Embroidered Patches"! On July 26 and August 2, the park will also present the immersive children’s interactive theater show, Fighting Monsters Together: Laughing Energy, inviting visitors of all ages to explore the world of Southern Taiwan’s Hakka culture through a full sensory experience.
For outdoor enthusiasts, the "Summer Family Eco-Camping Experience" will be held on July 11–12 and August 22–23, allowing families to explore the park's nightlife under the stars. On July 12, the "Rice Planting Fun: Summer Family Farming Party" will invite parents and kids to step barefoot into the soil to plant seedlings by hand, learning the true value behind every bowl of rice. Furthermore, a "Hakka Language Summer Camp" will take place on July 25–26 and August 15–16. In addition to arts and cultural offerings, the park is launching the cool and exciting "Cool Summer: Water Battle at Castle Defense," inviting team registrations throughout the season.
Beyond seasonal events, the park's standing exhibitions are not to be missed! In the Children’s Pavilion, families can take on the newly designed "Castle Defense (Jian Pao Cheng)" mission and explore interactive games rich in Hakka wisdom. The special exhibition "Taiwanese Imagery: Formosans in Transition," co-organized with the National Palace Museum, combines traditional daily life—such as Hakka mountain songs, culinary traditions, outdoor banquets, and mobile stage trucks—with interactive technology and audiovisual displays to showcase the cultural heritage of Liudui and Taiwan's diverse ethnic groups.
The "Beautiful Liudui" Permanent Exhibition Hall now includes a dedicated "Liudui Games" theme. Alongside historical contexts and major achievements, it features a "Liudui Soft Tennis" motion-sensing interactive game, allowing visitors to step into the shoes of an athlete. Additionally, a 3D floor and wall painting depicts the historic Wugoushui Settlement in Wanluan—known as the Xianfeng (Vanguard) Settlement—seamlessly combining traditional customs with its abundant natural spring waters, native aquatic plants, and freshwater fish, making it an absolute must-visit spot for photo lovers.
