HAC unveils visual identity of World Hakka Expo 2023
In his speech, Deputy Minister Chung thanked the Taoyuan City Government and local representatives for their full support of holding the expo since the event was postponed from 2022 to 2023 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Chung explained the theme of the expo is “Travel to Tomorrow: Future Hakka” with the imagery logo combined with the elements of mountain forests, villages, people, sun, and ocean, saying that the design of the expo’s visual identity interprets Hakka culture’s richness and diversity.
The expo is the world’s first-ever exposition focusing on Hakka culture, displaying the features of the Hakka community, including history, beliefs, music, literature, artefacts, crafts, cuisine, and attire, with 5G technology. The main exhibition area will be located at Taoyuan Airport MRT’s Taoyuan Sports Park Station, divided into two major themed pavilions—the World Pavilion and the Taiwan Pavilion. The former will reflect the localization and diversified cultures of the Hakka around the world, while the latter will showcase quintessential characteristics of the Taiwanese Hakka culture.
As the theme of the expo indicates, the event highlights the stories of Hakka immigrants to all over the world who have diversified local culture as well as Taiwanese Hakka culture that is not limited to the island but reaches out to the world. It is hoped that the general public will have a deeper understanding of diverse Hakka culture through the 2023 World Hakka Expo.
