Minister of Hakka Affairs, Yang Chang-zhen came to beautiful Tongluo Township in Miaoli County today (18th) to participate in the opening ceremony of the "2023 Miaoli Tongluo Hangju Life Festival - Chrysanthemums and People." Minister Yang praised the “natural beauty” of Tongluo in his speech and invited everyone to come to Tongluo to appreciate chrysanthemums, drink chrysanthemum tea, enjoy beautiful rural scenery complemented by the gentle breeze, and experience the area’s unique chrysanthemum culture.
Minister Yang said that he has witnessed first-hand the development and growth of Tongluo in recent years. The Hangju Life Festival has also attracted many tourists interested in experiencing local cultural activities. Yang added that he is very happy to promote Hangju culture together with local communities and looks forward to seeing more people working to protect our beautiful hometown and beautiful Tongluo.
The Hakka Affairs Council stated that in order to promote the upgrading of the chrysanthemum industry with local Hakka characteristics and develop Hakka tourism itineraries, it jointly launched the "Hangju Life Festival" in 2021 and looks forward to integrating the chrysanthemum industry with people's lives and optimizing the industrial development benefits. This year (2023), we will continue to leverage the popularity of the event brand and plan content with a central focus on chrysanthemum, including the selection of high-quality stores, chrysanthemum field concerts, local teachers and students jointly building tea serving stations etc. In addition, local tourism resources will be integrated to plan small scale chrysanthemum tours, inviting people to Tongluo to enjoy the beautiful sea of chrysanthemums and experience the different charms the town has to offer.
The opening day event of the "2023 Miaoli Tongluo Hangju Life Festival" also invited teacher Lai Renzheng, who is registered as an Miaoli County intangible asset and a local Tongluo team to perform. A rich series of events were also provided - experience hand-made fun at Mesona DIY activities, walk around a mountain village and learn about chrysanthemums and people, enjoy a flower field meal with special delicacies next to fields full of flowers, and watch events onsite up close. All activities are still open for registration, so do not miss this rare opportunity.
