Chou Chiang-chieh, Deputy Minister of the Hakka Affairs Council (HAC), attended the press conference for the 2023 Miaobei Arts Festival at the National Theater in Taipei on July 31.
Deputy Minister Chou stated that HAC just finished organizing the Romantic Route 3 Arts Festival, which showcased the unique cultural beauty of Miaoli. Not only this, but the expansive hilly landscape of the region also attracted many visitors. The Miaobei Arts Festival requires concerted efforts by the government, industry, and people, keeping the momentum for cultural and artistic development of Miaoli.
Deputy Minister Chou also pointed out that it was a pleasure for HAC to collaborate with the Miaobei Art Center. This year marks the fourth edition of the Miaobei Arts Festival and many outstanding musicians from home and abroad were invited to join the event, making this an unmissable opportunity for melophiles.
The musical Someday Over the Rainbow is led by performers Kuo Chi-chien, Emily Kuan, Anthony Neely, Ula Wu, and others. Preluded with the passage, “A rainbow appeared in the horizon, dazzling onlookers with its beauty”, it leisurely tells the story of a mine in a Hakka village. It will tour Miaobei Art Center’s Performance Hall, Taipei Performing Arts Center’s Grand Theater, and National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts’s Opera House with 7 shows from November 25, 2023 to May 26, 2024. The music video Let the World Hear My Voice has been filmed to build anticipation. With innovative content and trendy elements, the musical aims to deliver unique value through overall depth and energy of the production.
Lasting from October 1 to December 24, the 2023 Miaobei Arts Festival expands on last year’s exhilarating program. Not only does it continue the popular event series “Masterful Performances”, “Classic Symphonic Works”, and “Top in the World” of the past, but this year, it is putting on Miaobei’s original musical Someday Over the Rainbow as part of the new “Great Plays” series. With the four themes mentioned above and 8 splendid performances, this is a festival you wouldn’t want to miss!
