The reveal session for the key visual of the 2nd Romantic Route 3 Arts Festival organized by the Hakka Affairs Council (HAC) was held on May 15. The key visual was crafted by Liu Keng-ming, art director of Bito. It dazzlingly combines a variety of natural elements found along the Romantic Route 3: the leopard cat, Bag Gung (local land deities), persimmons, camellias, tea jassids, and Makino bamboo. HAC Deputy Minister Chou Chiang-chieh also hopes that this edition of the Romantic Route 3 Arts Festival will leave everyone with fresh thoughts and feelings.
This artistic feast spans five counties and cities: Taipei, Taoyuan, Hsinchu, Miaoli, and Taichung, covering 150 kilometers across 18 townships, and will last from June 24 to August 27. The curatorial theme of the 2nd Romantic Route 3 Arts Festival is "Falabidbog", aiming to revolutionize most people's impression of Hakka culture as conservative and simple-minded. The key visual is instead vibrant and bright in a much more upbeat mood.
The design team integrates local sceneries and a mostly static visual style to convey the most representative natural elements of the Romantic Route 3 with the core design idea of "a highway you can take with you": the protected leopard cat, the Hakka belief of Bag Gung, the iconic local produce of persimmons and camellias, and the tea jassids that nibble the leaves of the Oriental Beauty tea. The visual rendition through 3D techniques results in an eye-catching, vibrant image with cute, round figures. This stunning journey through the Romantic Route 3 is real and surreal at once, showcasing the wealth of fun and fascinating sights in the Arts Festival.
