Xinpu is famous for its dried persimmon, Asian pears, and flat rice noodles. Every year at the dried persimmon festival and Asian pear festival, fresh local produce is promoted. For flat rice noodles, there is the saying of “Xinpu for the north, Meinong for the south.” Fangliao Baozhong Yimin Temple is the belief center of all Hakka people in Taiwan. On the day of Yimin Festival, a grand ceremony is held. The Lantern Festival parade is also a lively annual event in Xinpu.

- When visiting Xinpu, you must taste the most famous dried persimmon. Also try drying persimmon DIY and dyeing with persimmons. You will become a persimmon expert!
- Fangliao Baozhong Yimin Temple can be said to be the center of all Yimin temples in Taiwan. It is an important religious center that holds the Yimin Festival every year.

Flat rice noodles
Ban, which is made by grinding rice with water into a pulp that is then steamed, when cut into strips, becomes flat rice noodles. Stir-fried flat rice noodles are made with fried shallots and pork strips. Flat rice noodles in soup are made with broth and chives. They are both delicious Hakka dishes.
Dried persimmon
The hilly terrain, coupled with the September wind, makes the unique geographical environment that is key to making delicious dried persimmons. When a thin layer of frosting forms on the dried persimmons, they become slightly sticky and have a sweet aroma.
Dongpo smoked sausage
This Hakka food similar to Taiwanese sausage is also known as shuiyanchang and fenchang. It is made by mixing a sweet potato pulp with lean pork and seasoning, and then filling this mixture into sausage casing. The texture is bouncy, and the taste is meaty.
