The only mixed mangrove (Kandelia obovata and Avicennia marina) forest in northern Taiwan is located in Xinfeng Township. There is also Taiwan’s only ecological park with a nature trail. Visitors can learn about the intertidal wildlife of mangroves, mudskippers, and fiddler crabs. You can also go to the nearby Hongmaogang to enjoy the gorgeous sunset. This will be a trip full of learning about nature and ecology.

  • Watermelon is a Xinfeng specialty. The annual Xinfeng Watermelon Festival is a fun summer event where you can cool off the heat.
  • Walking along the boardwalk in the mangrove nature reserve, the wildlife and landscape are diverse, and the mangrove forest is spectacular.

Hakka braised bamboo shoots

Hakka rice balls are mainly a savory dish. The soup is added with finely chopped leeks, celery, fried shallots, mushrooms, and lean pork. Combined with the white and round glutinous rice balls, this dish is perfectly flavorful.
