Shanlin is famous for gourds. In addition to its first-class capabilities in growing papaya, pumpkin, bitter gourd, and loofah, it has also developed the unique art of gourd carving. In the able hands of the craftsman, gourds are turned into works of art for people to appreciate and enjoy. The Sea of Flowers event is also a major feature of Shanlin. Taiwan’s largest sunflower maze brings many visitors here every year. Besides the sea of flowers, you can also visit the other scenic spots to enjoy the beauty of Shanlin.

- The Sea of Flowers Festival is held along County Highway 181 in Shanlin District. In addition to the sunflower maze, there are also seas of cosmos and zinnia.

The most well-known pumpkin varieties in Shanlin District are Dongsheng Pumpkin and Yipin Pumpkin, both of which are the pride of Shanlin farmers. They are juicy and sweet, with soft and dense texture.

Red Boy Papaya is Shanlin's own brand. The red flesh is scrumptious with a smooth texture and sweet taste. You will have one bite after another.
