The place name "Chishang" comes from "on top of Dapo Pond." Due to its geographical location, Chishang is also the hometown of rice in Taiwan, which led to the popularity of Chishang branded rice. Countless poets have described the charming rural landscape of the township with its arterial paddy fields, oxcarts and flowing rivers.
Chishang Township has many geological landscapes and cultural attractions, including one of the 16 most beautiful railway stations in Taiwan - Chishang Railway Station, Chishang Grain Barn Art Museum, Dapo Pond, Brown Avenue, Jinchengwu Tree, Tiantang Road, Chishang Lunchbox Museum etc.

- Daguan Pavilion near Brown Avenue is built on the surface canal where water from Dapo Pond is used to irrigate farmland. Standing at the pavilion, visitors have a panoramic view of hundreds of hectares of rice fields, making it a beautiful sight visitors will not want to miss when visiting Chishang.
- Chishang Railway Station has undergone a gorgeous transformation. The building is shaped like a Japanese rice barn, showcasing Chishang as the hometown of rice and imbuing the town with an artistic atmosphere.

Chihshang rice
