Guanshan Town has been the administrative center of the rift valley since the period of Japanese rule when many Japanese-style official residences and buildings were built, creating a neighborhood with distinctive architectural and cultural features. Along the well-planned "Guanshan Bicycle Path," visitors can feel the gentle breeze, enjoy the scenery or visit the vast Guanshan Water Park, where visitors can feel the mountain breeze on their face, enjoy the scenery of the lotus pond, play with the ducks, and relive beautiful childhood memories. Guanshan rice is renowned in Taiwan and visitors can enjoy a "Guanshan lunch box" while making a pilgrimage to "Guanshan Old Railway Station" which offers a journey back in time.

Whether visitors choose to go for a stroll or ride a bike, they are accompanied by the fragrance of Guanshan rice, it is easy to visit the beautiful countryside and cultural and historical sites in the small beautiful town of Guanshan.

Fun activities

  • Visit "Guanshan Rice School" built from a rice milling factory and an idle barn. Enjoy the rice-making DIY experience by seeing first-hand the plant’s rice-making process. It brings back memories and emotions, and is a must-see attraction.
  • Guanshan Old Railway Station was built during the period of Japanese rule. It is the only remaining "Japanese-Western eclectic" old station on the Eastern Railway Main Line and has witnessed generations of change in the small township of Guanshan.
  • Guanshan Bicycle Path is one of the best bicycle paths in Taiwan. It offers a panoramic view of the town and an excellent route to slowly experience local scenery throughout the four seasons.
  • Guanshan Water Park has been selected as one of the most beautiful spots to view the star-filled evening sky in Taitung.
  • The Dried Radish Story Hall is the only radish bank in Taiwan. Visitors can make their own old dried radish and learn more about Hakka pickling culture.
  • Guanshan Hakka Traditional Art Center was originally a sericulture improvement farm. It has now been transformed into an art and cultural space that showcases local cultural heritage. The center mainly provides exhibitions of daily cultural relics and the study of traditional art and culture. Outside the center, there is an area where visitors can experience plant dyeing.
  • Guanshan Mazu Temple is visited by Hokkien, Hakka, Mainlander, Pingpu people and Amis believers. It is the largest Mazu religious center in the Taitung Rift Valley.
  • The Historical Museum, Taitung County Police Bureau is a Japanese-style wooden building that exudes historical flavor. It houses many police cultural relics preserved from the period of Japanese rule, including uniforms, torture instruments, communication equipment, desks, bookcases and stationery.

Peanut candy
This is a timeless, classic dessert. With just one bite, the rich peanut aroma will fill your mouth while the generous crushed peanuts will offer a pleasant crunchy texture. You will not be able to stop! There is also gift box packaging, making it a great choice as souvenirs.
Asian pear

Guanshan rice
Rice produced in Guanshan Township, Eastern Taiwan, an area with green mountains and water, beautiful wind, sunshine and no pollution, is plump, transparent and shiny, soft and sticky, fragrant and delicious, it also has excellent elasticity.
Stinky tofu
The fried tofu is crispy on the outside and tender on the inside; cold tofu is creamy and refreshing to eat, suitable for all ages; stinky tofu has a strong aroma, and eaten with the store's special kimchi and sauce customers often find themselves wanting more after finishing the portion they ordered.
Guanshan Hongchang Hakka Restaurant
The old restaurant, currently run by third generation family members, was originally a stopover where passing drivers and travelers rested and had a meal. Later, it became a famous local Hakka restaurant. Despite promoting reduced oil and salt and using the creative flavoring of fruit and vegetables, the restaurant still retains the traditional taste of Hakka cuisine infused with new ideas. Word of mouth has seen it become one of the most popular restaurants on Provincial Highway 9.
