Guangfu Township was previously called "Fataan." In the past, every household planted tree beans, so the township is also known as the hometown of tree beans, which are called Fataan in the Amis language.
Guangfu Township is a township where diverse ethnic groups live together. As the area has a typical large alluvial fan plain and fertile land, sugar manufacturing was the main industry during the period of Japanese rule. Indeed, many preserved historical buildings are related to the sugar industry, including Hualien Tourist Sugar Factory, Huatang Museum etc. The sugar factory is famous for its various ice creams, and there are often long queues of tourists.
In addition to the sugar factory, there are many idyllic scenic spots, such as Jili Lake and Fataan Wetlands where lotus flowers bloom in summer and attract a large number of people. There is also the largest plain forest in the east Da Nong Da Fu, where visitors can feel the pure scenery in person.
Visitors can take a short trip to see Hakka settlements where they can explore the history of the Hakka ancestors.

- The Hualien Tourist Sugar Factory, established during the period of Japanese rule, not only has the splendor and elegance of a Japanese-style wooden house, but also offers a variety of ice cream flavors that will leave visitors satisfied with just one mouthful.
- Every year from May to August, visitors can wander among the romantic summer flowers in Fataan Wetland, and can experience the unique Palakaw ecological fishing method.
- "82 Lane Story Street" is where Grandma Qiu Jinfeng, who is in her 70s, creates in the village. She infuses the drab house walls with rich colors and stories. Take a trip to story street and every corner is full of surprises.
- Whenever it is flowering season for the Golden Trumpet Tree, the nearly 300-meter Golden Trumpet Tree flower path along Xingquan irrigation canal next to Fuyuan Junior High School is transformed into a fantastic golden tunnel as beautiful as an oil painting.
